leaf springs
Have bought two new leaf springs... there's a band around the leaves on one end... Does that go toward the front or rear, or does it matter... Tks.

- In addition to the band pointing to the front, the spring is equally centered on the top of the axle.

If its for a trailer I don't think it matters, that is just some kind of indentification info/tag.
They're for a 5th wheel... Band has some numbers stamped on it... looks like it holds the top 3 leaves together... It's very thin... Don't see how it could take much stress... I'm guessing towards the front... but it's just a guess.Charlie D. wrote:

If its for a trailer I don't think it matters, that is just some kind of indentification info/tag.- There is a front and back on the springs themselves. If the springs came as an assembled unit, then the wrap goes to the front. More important is that the pair are mounted exactly alike.
