Just my opinion...here is what I would do first before moving on to other steps...In your pic...If you look just above the "T" in the word insulation. Looks like the only insulation that is matted up and wet. Looks like there are some bolt there? Maybe your slide valve? Might be able to fix it with the hole you made without making hole any bigger? After fixing find a political sign (corrablast material) to cover up hole.
