Leaking heater core ???

I wish I did not have to ask such ignorant questions..To the left of the generator, up front on the Class A Winnebago U. Advantage, I have an antifreeze drip. While driving, I turned the dash heater on for the first time. It put out heat and I turned it off after 10 minutes. Two hours later I stopped and had antifreeze drips from the bottom of a black plastic box left of generator. Underneath, that box had slow drops from a vent like grid. The leak on the ground is small and the radiator has no loss I can see. I never had any trouble in my life with a heater core, but I am worried my luck ran out. The inside location would be behind the dash at the top of the stairs near the passenger side. I'm here again for your expertises. What ya thinking?

  • X2 you,ll smell it, turn the defroster on and things will fog up. maybe some water leaked in from another source, rain??
  • I would guess it isn't the heater core. You can usually smell antifreeze really strong inside when the heat is on, and the core is leaking. Sometimes you will even get like a fog out of the vent

Sounds like the drip is coming from the HVAC (Heat Ventilation Air Condition) cabinet. Grate on the bottom is probably the outside air intake. Both Heater Core and A/C Evaporator (cooling core) should be in there. Maybe a Water Control Valve and that could be leaking, but recent HVAC doesn't use a Valve. Instead it uses a Blend Door. Both Heat and A/C are producing full Hot and Cold; you set the temp you feel by positioning the blend door.
Neighbor had a 40' Winnebago DP with a leak up there. I bypassed the core with a length of heater hose till he had it fixed. I don't know what was involved inside.
