One part of modern cars that doesn't seem to have keep up with development is headlights. Now days they seem to be more about fitting into the body lines of the car than getting a great light pattern on the road.
I had a 68 Mustang that had Lucas fog lights in the grill and they worked very well in fog, but were designed to put down a broad pattern low to penetrate the fog.
I moved these to just below the bumper and installed the same design Lucas Driving lights in the grill. Once correctly aimed these would light the road for about a half mile the width of two lanes. These were on a dash switch and controlled by the high beams. I sure loved the way these worked together, with the fogs which by design kept the light beam low, they could be on all the time and would light the the surface of the road for about 200 feet ahead of the car.
Really miss those lights!!
