That is what I want to do. May go ahead and try it as replacement lights are very economical.

I did & it works well -

I do it the way you want to. I have a section of RG6 coax running from my existing porch light along the wall and down the awning arm, terminated by a barrel connector. When I unfold the awning I use a short piece of RG6 to complete the circuit. The jumper has an RG6 connector on one end. The center wire makes up the pos. circuit and I use the braided shield to make the neg. side. Done this for a couple of years with no problems.

One note: The first string of lights I bought was sticky back, weather resistant. They didn't last. I replaced them with a set of encapsulated lights that were considered weather proof but had no sticky back. I attached them with clear silicone. I have not lost a single light and the silicone worked great for about 6 months, so far.

I plan on doing this and at this point I will attach to the roller with the waterproof strip and I don't forsee any issues causing damage to the strip or the awning. I would prefer to have them on the trailer so that they could be used with the awning retracted but I share the same concerns as you. I have seen someone that has attached a non-waterproof strip to the roller and they seem to be ok. I will try to find it and attach it.

Very good question. Before I started this tread, I did a search on LED Strip Lighting, and found many were planning on attaching the strip to the roller. Now, no one has done this except 1 person used a LED Rope Light and slid it into the grove in the roller. I do not want to stick a lighting strip on the side of my MH. I feel the lights will eventually burnout or discolor and then removing the strip will damage the paint. If anyone has stuck the strip on the roller and now roll the awning up with the strip attached, please tell us of the durability or did it crush the LED's?

For those that have attached them to the trailer below the awning is there any issues with them attracting flying insects? Think its a great idea on the trailer as opposed to the awning but around here there isn't many nights your not fighting off the mosquito's during the summer and this might make it difficult to get into the trailer wihtout a swarm coming in with you.

I installed mine last year. They are very water proof. Cost $18. I used an old computer laptop power supply. Next I will just get a plug and go direct to the battery. I recently installed one in the front winshield area, going around the windshield. Also you can get extension plugs to interconnect them, make 90 degrees turn. Are get the voltage amplifier

Mine are mounted to the trailer under the awning. 3 years so far.
