I am looking to use a very low wattage LED for a night lite. I just want a dim lite in the living area for those dark, late night trips we old men make. Most of the LEDs are much too bright for my purpose. Can I take a small paddle LED and remove/disable some of the leds without destroying it? The place I have in mind is the standard 921 fixture. The low wattage goal is because we always dry camp and are always thinking battery use. Thanks, bill

One of our previous rigs had lots of extra lights in it, so I went to the local auto parts store and paid just a few dollars for a pair of LED replacements made for automotive parking lamp replacements- they slipped right in where the incandescent lamp was before in the original fixture. The light output was too low for reading, but it made a good night light.

Some ideas in this forum threadIf you aren't boondocking, there's lots of 120 volt motion sensor night lights that plug into a recept. We have one in the bathroom in our TT that has a neon lamp.I find the blue light from our radio in the living area and from the microwave to be enough to navigate around at night. I had a blue LED voltmeter in a previous TT that gave off enough light at night.The easiest solution is to have a small LED flashlight at the bedside. DW uses one at night at home and when camping because of vertigo and a loss of sense of balance. Works fine for her. Wakes me up sometimes tho.

After trying a few lights to do the same thing for those late night trips,and with a small power draw I found These on Amazon.I like the hooded lens,it keeps the light focused downward thus making it less intrusive. Mounted near the floor they give off just the right amount of light.The pictures in the ad are a bit deceiving, they are not as bright as the pictures.

Check this night light from Harbor Freight. Works great. Motion sensor run on 3 AA batteries. Really light up the night. Batteries last about 6 month if used all the time. See link below.

Here's a small license plate fixture I have used with a "194" Led bulb that I believe used only 1 watt (or less) of power. I found the LED bulb at an auto supply store. Worked great as a night light with very little power usage! I installed a small separate 'flip' switch to turn it on at night... and off next morning.

I have a bunch of these, but "night-lights", not really, they are quite bright. Amazingly bright

There is a main light & a smaller one similar to a small flash light that isn't near as bright & if it's hung by the hook from a cabinet door handle, pointed down, it's perfect for a night light.

Do you do any electrical tinkering? You can take a single white led (just the bare LED), put it in series with a 1k resistor, and hook it to 12 volts. For brighter use a smaller value resistor, for dimmer use a larger resistor. Don't go below 470 ohms. Current draw will be in the 10 mA ballpark. I use this setup in the bathroom and it does the job well.

Back year (and years, like nearly 20) I soldered 7 red LEDs in series and hot-glued them into a standard "lighter" base. This plugs into the 12V "outlet".
I used this in the first RV
I used this in the 2nd RV
I used this in the 3rd RV
It's still in use in the fourth RV.

This kluge has been running 24/7/365 for, well, like I said, nearly 20 years.

Rather than have a single-location light on all the time, I chose to put a very small LED flashlight next to the bed on a shelf. When "those moments" come, I reach up and get it. It travels with me to the head and back, and lasts forever because it's only on for a few minutes at a pop. It also travels with me in our RV, at home, in hotels, anywhere I go.

I bought a $7 led nightlight with a shell style reflector for our guest bath at the house. If I still had the RV there would be one plugged in some where. It turns on and off by photo cell.

Buy and mount a nice light, but NOT an LED that is regulated.

Mount THIS in a nearby cabinet or somewhere unobtrusive then dial in EXACTLY the amount of light you wish...

We purchased a 10" round faced clock at Camping World. When the lights go off, a LED lights up illuminating the hands and also acts like a night light.
