Lift TV - any problems?

Anyone own the entertainment center with the lift TV and had problems with the lift mechanism malfunctioning? Would you recommend them or not?

How about if it goes down behind the fireplace? We were wondering if the heat from the fireplace, (if it is in use and the TV is down in the cabinet), might heat up the TV and damage it.
  • The only problem I've seen first hand is when a guy had a tire blow out on his brand new Big Sky. It tore up the wiring underneath and he could no longer access his TV. Obviously his was on the side of the unit, and if it were located in the rear that wouldn't have happened.

  • My buddy had the problem that each time it would go up or down it would damage the coax fitting on the back of the TV. A little rerouting of cables and a 90 degree fitting cured that.

ours has one and it has been troublefree. the lift is very simple, a gear drive motor pinion on a rack. Wouldn't be without it. The nice thing is our trailer is a rear entertainment model, with a huge window out the back. with the TV down we get a great view. Would hate to have the TV taking up the view all the time. IMHO it's a great system.
  • No problems up or down with fireplace on or off.
    Completely safe and reliable.

The fireplace is a 750-1500 watt electric heater that blows out the front top.
It presents no heat from the rear.
