long term battery charging

Recently, I had my TT parked for over two months on full 30 amp hook ups.

Before that, the batteries sat for about three months with no charge. I would turn on the lights for a few minutes when working on the trailer, and after awhile, the sensor was reading two of the four lights.

I of course have it on a seven-pin charge when I'm pulling, and am now running my Yamaha generator to at least ten o'clock to record my wife's TV program.

My question; will my batteries recover from their obviously depleted state to any significant degree?

    Hi,

Do yourself a favor and add a modest solar system. Your battery bank will love you and last a heck of a lot longer.

    Sounds like good advice.

  • Even if you can get the SG to 1.280 after massaging them vigorously upto 16V, they will have lost some degree of capacity.

A 6v Golf cart battery will stand a much better chance of recovery compared to the 12v dual purpose Marine batteries commonly sold and used as deep cycle batteries.

How to get them to 16V? well, I use an Adjustable voltage power supply, specifically the Meanwell RSP-500-15.
  • Not unless you can run them up to near 16v (with batts separated from rig of course) and get their SG back above 1.280 (with an hydrometer)
