Low Amps from New Solar Install

I did my first solar install on the roof of my fifth wheel this weekend. Two Renogy 100w mono panels to a Solar30 controller via a 10AWG cable down the gray tank vent. In going through the displays on the controller, I am only seeing .3 to .5 amps when I think I should be seeing 7 to 10 amps. I used branch cables on the roof to connect the two panels to the down cable and the female end of the 10AWG did not want to receive the mail end, and when pushed hard would not seat fully. I suspect this may be the problem. Can an MC4 be easily replaced? Should I try dielectric grease to act as a lubricant?

  • The panel rating is in full sun, with the panels tilted toward the sun. Unless your panels are located like that you wont see full power.
  • Does not look like direct sunshine is landing on all of them in the picture.
