Lowes Peel & Stick plus

While in Lowes this weekend, we were looking for smart tiles. They do not carry them. They have their brand of peel and stick plus they have other floor tile (wood & granite look) products which might work as back splashes. The sales guy says the glue is as good as Smart Tiles.

Has anyone else tried these?
  • I don't think it's advisable to use floor tile as a back splash for your stove area. But I do know, the peel and stick back splash material, made for being a back splash, is extremely strong stuff. I used some of that when remodeling my current house. You get one chance to stick it on, and it better be right the first time because it's not coming off to correct it, without ripping the wall with it.

Suggestion: Get the self-sticking stuff made for back splashes behind stoves and do not use the stuff made for floors. The back splash products are made to withstand heat, grease, splatters. Floor tiles will melt!
  • We purchased Smart tiles for the backsplash from Wayfair they had a better selection than the local big box stores and were cheaper.
  • Can't say if they would be a good idea and work for an RV backsplash, but CAN say that we used peel and stick tiles for kitchen floor in house more than 15 yrs ago. All the comments on line were to not use them, they wouldn't last!! Still on floor, still look almost new, and no complaints!!

They were installed on 1/4" plywood underlayment, and I used a primer made for adhesive flooring on install. On an RV wall, which is usually thin plywood with a paper or vinyl covering, maybe the primer would be a good, maybe necc item to use. The tiles we used were imported for Lowes from Italy. Can't say anything bad about them. Noticed last trip to a Lowes, that peel and stick seems to be resurging in the home improvement area. Many, many choices!!

Previous owner installed floor tiles as backsplashes in our stove area. Came off. Reattached with Liquid Nails. Came off again. Wall now a mess. Tiles now tacked to wall with stainless staples while I look for a stainless steel sheet solution.
    Proceed With Caution.
