LP refrigerator indicator gauge problem

Hi fellas,

I've got a kz sportsman series travel trailer with a 2 way fridge; LP and 120v options. I've been having some issues with the LP indicator gauge. I push/hold the gas knob inward and hit the pop igniter. The indicator goes to green so I let off the gas knob pressure. The problem is when I let pressure off the gas knob out the gauge reads out of the green and falls down to white/red as if the fridge isn't running. In all reality the fridge is operating even though the gauge/indicator isn't indicating so. I verified this by opening the door I can hear the flame burning and the unit operating. It also does cool as intended. The odd part about this is when I push my finger against the control panel like next to the gas knob or really anywhere near the gauge the indicator/gauge reads green as I should. It does not take much pressure at all pushing my finger against the face of the panel to make the gauge jump to green. Any ideas on what's going on here? Maybe if I had a better understanding how the gas indicator/gauge works I would have a better idea to the solution. FYI the fridge is out of warranty by a few months. also the 120v side of things works fine as well.

Thanks for any help,
cheers,

Jim

  • Took off the rear panels last night. Sure enough, the blue wire was loose on the terminal. I reached in there and plugged it back in. Everything works as it should now. Thank you guys for the assistance.

The flame meter on that connects to the selector switch and is grounded to the electric thermostat- both push on spade lugs, I believe.

    Thanks, I appreciate the advise

What model is it? All of those use a volt meter, but they are hooked up differently. They all are just reading the small voltage produced by the thermocouple- the green zone is around 15 millivolts.

The fridge is a Norco N305

I'll have to get back to you this evening. I don't have the make model info at the moment.

That indicator is just a millivolt meter, so it sounds like maybe the ground is bad.

Interesting, I'll take the panel apart this evening and see what I can find. I do take the trailer off road quite a bit so maybe the grounding wire came loose.

    Thanks
