I made my lugs from 1/2" copper tubing. I cut off about 4" and flattened 2" in the vice. Fold back 1" to make it double thick. Drill a 3/8" hole in the flat part. Put in the 000 wire, clamp with the vice. No solder at all. That was back in 1997, and I installed a Trace M1512 inverter, rated at 1500 watts. I have run as much as 150 amps through those wires, and - well over 15 years and they held up well. No problems yet.
