OK, I'll convert this question to Canadian level (single syllable simple)
"Whose got the tools?"
You guys are stuck with those damm Phillips screws, sucks to be you. Anyway, I thought the story was that Ford wanted to buy the patent for Robertson a long time ago and wouldn't grease the palm very well and decided to go with Phillips instead. We buy all the square tips at Home Depot, Lowes or any other hardware store. A lot come embedded in the hex shank that fits into most of the smaller electric screwdrivers or electric impact guns. You can also get them for 1/4 and 3/8 ratchet drives. You can also drool here www.princessauto.com
Story I read was that Phillips was designed for the auto mfg and intentionally designed to "cam out" if overtorqued to avoid breaking or stripping fasteners before they had torque limited drivers.
later Posidrive came out that doesn't cam out as easily. But Robertson is definitely much superior for cam out.
then there are the fasteners that at first glance look like torx, but have 8 points. What they are is an 8 point square drive. Confuses lots of folks.
