Magnetic dipstick for generator

Has anyone installed one of these from Amazon in a non-Honda portable generator? I have a Firman 3300w inverter and have the magnetic dipstick in my Amazon cart but not sure it will fit. They are all advertised as being "for Honda" or "for Yamaha".

Surely someone here has one they installed in a Chinese genset...
  • That units engine is a Honda "clone" 171 cc G-42 series if that helps. Old 1970's design.
Chinese made, most parts fit, but not all.
  • As an option, can you get a magnetic oil drain plug?
  • I’d rather have the threaded drain plug magnetized. When you change the oil clean it off. But I guess the dipstick would work a well just make sure to get the right length.

You can magnetize your dip stick by sliding a magnet across the tip multiple times. I did this on my 54 Ford in high school it works but a magnetized drain plug or a magnetic on the outside of the oil pan will work better.
  • Hi,

Ummm most of the generator dip sticks are plastic......
