I actually considered putting the autoformer in the circuit, but I did not do so as there were no "low voltage" events.

Why the voltage sensitivity? It occurred to me that if the switched autoformer were in series with the generator (?) an inverter, that may add the missing link needed to better understand the conflict. But why would PT do that?
