Please don't risk a "melt down" of the inverter. I'd suggest that if the fan does immediately shut down that power be restored asap to allow the cooling to happen.

I disconnected the load and then turned the inverter on and the fan came back on.
2. The fan runs.
I turned the inverter off and on and the fan came back on.
Conclusion:
The inverter must be on for the fan to run.
Plugging into shore power automatically turns the inverter on.
The inverter must be manually turned off.
