- ksg5000ExplorerNot sure why you have problem but auto reset breakers are inexpensive - might try replacing just in case you have defective/weak one.
- wa8yxmExplorer IIISome RVs do indeed have 12 volt breakers especially for the Main breaker.. I have seen some.
I do not know why shutting off the genny would trip it however. Should have no effect on it at all. - joebedfordNomad II

If it is the main 12 Vdc breaker that is tripping,.
- wa8yxmExplorer IIIYou really should shut the main 120 volt breaker off BEFORE you kill the genny. and if you are plugged into shore power leave it off for a full 3 minutes before turning back on.
WHY
Inductive loads inlude the Air Conditioner blower and compressor. Now the blower is not much damaged by a "hot switch" from one source to another but the compressors .. Well they will stop as soon as power is cut since they have a full head of pressure. and then try to restart.. NOT GOOD because they do not have that much OOMPH so they do the locked rotor thing (Very high current).
Also they can suck some major current when the voltage drops as the generator shuts off but I've never seen 'em trip my main breaker. the 30 amp on the genny yes. the 50 amp main no. If yours is a 30 amp rig.. Well perhaps it can trip that too.
also on 30 amp 2-A/C rigs. on Genny the two A/C's are on different generator outputs.. (One. usually the rear is no longer on the main power panel) but when you kill the genny they both are on the main panel you have to shut one off or use a selector switch That too will trip a 30 amp breaker with both Gennies trying to hot-restart. - 2oldmanExplorer II

If it is the main 12 Vdc breaker that is tripping, do you have an inverter that may be pulling too much current in the transfer off the generator? Loose contacts in the generator/inverter transfer switch causing inverter to pull more load.
If it is the main 120 Vac breaker, the DC battery kill switch will have nothing to do with it. Does your coach have a shore line to generator transfer switch that may have loose contacts or be drawing too much current in the transfer? Invertor delivering too much current?
the main is a 40a breaker. i have replaced the original inverter with one about double the original one.
and i will check out the second part of your response.

Don't use the kill switch, whatever that is, shut off the generator maybe with the prime side of the generator switch.
the kill switch is to shut off any power left on so the batteries will not go dead. it's like a safety switch. - MHancockExplorer

Your suppose to shut down all major electrical power consumers b4 you shut down generator. Are you doing that?
the only appliance left on is the refrigerator.
