Making a table or a stand for a solar panel setup. It would be easy to need a four inch or 5 inch long clevis. "Run down to the hardware store!" The cry of the close-quartered-urbanite. Aluminum rod is good enough and is a lot lighter.
3/16", 1/4", and 5/16" rod is inexpensive. So are corresponding SAE flat washers and hairpins are not expensive.
