We had girls in woodshop and auto mechanics just like there were guys in home-ec and typing. Vocational courses were all electives. This wasn't intended to be a political question. Was it an economical or liability decision? Vocational programs provided real world skills many of us still use today. Most kids today can't figure out a tape measure without an app. I mentioned knurling to my son and he had no idea what I was talking about, and he's a Mechanical Engineer!
