Making Tour Own Clevis Pins

youTube video

Takes a drill press, vise, hacksaw and a T tap tool. Rough emery strip and your drills.

Watch the video then comment.

There is no easier way to assemble a rack and disassemble than using clevis pins and hair-pins

  • Iv'e never been that bored. Any good hardware store has them ready made.
  • I'm not sure what to comment on.

I worked in a can manufacturing plant for 40 years and am pretty familiar with machine shop work, and machine shop precision work. I didn't really see anything new and different in the video. Although I guess it could be enlightening to some who haven't had the exposure to regular machine shop work. I'll have to admit that most of the clevis pins I'm familiar with are made out of steel rather than aluminum.

I have an endless supply of ‘good used’ AN aircraft hardware.

Top drawer stuff for free, it doesn’t get much better than that.

A huge percentage is already cross-drilled too.
  • I guess you don't have access to Tractor Supply down there. They sell all sorts of clevis pins rather cheaply. A couple of bucks or less. Not worth all that trouble to fab your own.
