Maximum length of sewer hose?

I have been using Sewer Solution kit for over a decade to dump at home. It uses a lot of water. We are having our sewer line replaced and the plumber is putting in 2 clean outs. What is the maximum length sewer hose can use. There will be sufficient slope on one but the length is probably 30+ feet. I see the max hose length sold is 20 feet.
I know I can put 2 together to make it longer, but what is too long?

  • This past summer I set up a 3" dryer hose of 50' with my Rhino hose at the end to tie into the sewer. All in all about 60' feet. Like they said it won't run uphill. Before I attempted anything I filled the hose full of water to make sure it didn't leak. I was pretty nervous the first couple times I used it but I'm ok with it now. In fact I am very careful with the way I handle the hose to prevent creating leaks. IMO a couple or three 20' hoses coupled will do just fine. Just remember to use the shortest amount of hose cause as it fills it will expand to it's full length. I also built a "v" chase out of 1x4x12 and 1x3x12 to control the hose on the ground since I had to run on an angle across the slope to the sewer.
  • I occasionally run about 50 feet of hose with about a 2 foot steady drop. It has worked fine for me... so far.
  • If you put a water meter on your rv you will find as i did that the sewer solution does not use that much water. The SS will run over thirty feet and actually work with a rise of two or three feet.
  • If you are at home and you say you have the slope, could you adapt to thin wall pvc pipe?
  • I have a 10 foot sewer hose I use for most hookups. Has the sewer pipe hookup on it. I also carry a longer 15 foot hose and hook the two together when needed. When I dump at home I add another 20 foot hose in that I keep in the garage in a laundry basket and I need all and think I will make it longer when I buy next time.. As long as you have a good slope its not a problem.
  • Sage,

Is there a chance that the plumber can add a clean out closer to the pavement? Mine did.

Talk to him nicely. He may be able to add an extra "clean out" on a branch closer to where you would like it to be.

As a last resort (in my book) would be a macerator/pump that hooks to your dump flange or a short piece of slinky and runs from there in a garden size hose. This kit could store in your garage. My father did this until he got the clean out moved.
