What vehicle are you working on that allows an easy adjustment of bands? Have you done this procedure previously?
FWIW, my vehicle service manual says to not even change the fluid screen/filter because of the difficulty in getting it mounted correctly.
Also, FWIW, 6 ft lbs. is just past hand tight (using my hands).
