Mfr used plumber's putty on window -- do I need butyl?

Wow, this thread sure got hijacked all to hell !

Why get so technical about the sealer. There ain't none of it gonna leak.
But most important thought should be about ever needing to remove it. That's why silicone is completely out of the question. Every window I've removed came out quite easily, and looked like plummers putty, but may have been similar. I reinstall w/ that rope chalking, similar to plummers putty.
