BFL13 I revisited Randy's site and took a look at the Boondocker Converters and see they do 14.6 bulk mode. Cool. I also see they post a link to the owners manual and can't see what conditions will put the unit into bulk mode? If my trimetric is stating 65% I want bulk mode.
Somebody a couple years ago posted the info on how the newer version went into boost as I posted above wrt 15 min and 14.2 etc. Can't vouch for it in detail,(I have a PM3) but I do know they did something like that a couple years ago, changing from their original copy of how WFCO does it using a 13.2 trigger.
AFAIK, if you have a PM4, you will go into boost at 65% or any other SOC. Like any PowerMax except the adjustable voltage ones, when the batts reach 14.6, the converter drops to 13.6.
The SOC when you reach 14.6 depends on your charging rate. Higher = sooner at a lower SOC, and lower = later at a higher SOC. It is highly predictable if you know your charging rate at what SOC you will reach 14.6v.
EG at 16% charging rate you will hit 14.6 at about 82% SOC approx.
I use 100a on 458AH bank ( 22%) and hit 14.6 at about 72% SOC
PD claims theirs reaches 90% before Absorption starts. That means they are using only a 10% charging rate to get that spec. Otherwise their SOC arrival would be the same variable as everyone elses. Batteries are pretty much the same for that stuff.
