No way... im a plumber 30 years.. Thats a safety device and is in no way to be used as a switch.. He was testing the furnace with the thermostat cranked up and the temp outside was 85 it sure will turn the burner off when it gets to hot and back on once the blower cooled the furnace down enough.

This is called “cycling on the limit switch” and results from overheating in the Heat Exchanger,which causes the High Limit Switch
to engage". and that can happen easily when trying to run the furnace when it is 85 outside. It would not do this during the normal heating season.
