MPPT controller - voltage sensing without separate wires?

Soon to be released MPPT 3048 will have battery voltage sensing wires optional. Before they were standard. Now it is supposed to sense the battery voltage through main terminal cables, if I'm correct....

A side point - I would venture to guess 99% of the "RV.NET" crowd uses the traditional 12 Volt battery bank. Only aware of one guy using a 24 Volt system.
On the input side of things we have one guy with 6 panels in series getting about 110 Volts DC supplying the controller. More typically I see some where around 40 VDC on the input side.
