MPPT controller - voltage sensing without separate wires?

Soon to be released MPPT 3048 will have battery voltage sensing wires optional. Before they were standard. Now it is supposed to sense the battery voltage through main terminal cables, if I'm correct....

In hindsight I think the MS MPPT 45 would have been fine for my 675 watts.
Panels mounted flat, odd sun angles, dirt, shade, it would be rare to get much more than 45 amps. If I potentially got 52 for a few minutes and it was held at 45 it would not be a huge deal.
