MPPT controller - voltage sensing without separate wires?

Soon to be released MPPT 3048 will have battery voltage sensing wires optional. Before they were standard. Now it is supposed to sense the battery voltage through main terminal cables, if I'm correct....

I guess I would say it more that MPPT *benefits* from big cables. I see your point, it may not need them at all and get only a tiny benefit.
