Carry a spare hub? That's a good idea. I considered getting an extra set of bearings and seals but replacing the seals intimidates me. (I screwed it up last time and don't think I'd be any better the next time.)
But an entire hub, all ready to go? That may be easier. But in this case maybe not. The bearings were so mangled that I couldn't get the hub off. (Just killing time while waiting for the repair service to arrive basically; I had no new bearings to replace them.) And when they did come, they worked for over an hour just to remove the mangled bearings from the spindle, then sand out the imperfections in the spindle. I guess an entire new hub would not have helped me in this case.
