Thanks fot the great writeup KendallP!
It's done outa' love.Something else I thought of...
You know... some folks go with LEDs in their homes over CFLs because you can dim the LEDs.
This holds true in the RV world... as long as you DON'T opt for the regulated (expensive) type.
I don't think there would be any negative repercussions in the way of longevity. In fact... I would think that, within reason, the lower power could actually extend their lives. But I'm not an expert.
Just sayin'...
Another thought I had...
When it comes to CFLs and LEDs in the home, it seems that the time to change out all your bulbs would not be winter. I think most, if not all of the energy saved is that which is normally lost to heat. And since most of us have to HEAT our homes in the winter anyway...
Now electric powered, infrared heat may not be as efficient as that from a heat pump, NG furnace or woodstove, but since no bulb lasts forever... I'm just thinking it would be slightly more economical to hold off changing out all of your bulbs until springtime... perhaps.
And, of course... if your climate forces you to run the A/C in summertime, then you would save even more energy by changing out your bulbs before summer. I know that I still have some halogens, in the laundry room, for example that just, flat-out BAKE that little room. Definitely counter productive.
Getting practical...
I would just say that if you desire to change out your home bulbs, but your wintertime funds are low... you probably needn't hurry. Your energy savings will likely be more prominent once your heating season has passed.
