My outside fixture is an 1141 like yours. I broke the glass, removed the sharp edges and then clipped the feed wires on my 48 SMD's and soldered them to the 1141 base. Worked like a champ. Now I don't pitch a fit when the Mrs. decides to leave the outside light on all night long and I've gone to sleep 2 hours earlier!
You could just always remove the 1141 base for the bulb itself, solder the provided connectors into the fixture and call it even. If I had thought it thru I think that's what I would have done...
