First, I don't trust the lumen ratings given on eBay. I to have seen great variations in these specs. Just to get on the same track, I understand lumens to be a measure of the total light from a source. It doesn't matter if it is focused as panels are to a certain degree or not.
The 1210/3528 LED is a single LED in the package, the 5050 has 3 LEDs in the package. If you look at the photos closely, you can see three contacts on each side of the 5050 LEDs. My observation is that a 5050 is about 2x as bright as the 1210. It also draws about 2x the current and runs about twice as hot. I know there are 24 5050 and 48 5050 panels. I am using a 24 5050 panel in the range hood, the DW wanted a brighter light there.
IMHO, the 36 1210 panel is about as bright as the 18 5050 and they are close to the brightness of the 1141. There may be variations in lights made by different manufacturers.
I like the panels for overhead lighting and for task areas and the cob lights for areas where I want a more diffused light. Of course the fixture lens will diffuse the light which may explain why some people like the cobs for overhead lighting. It depends on the fixture.
If I missed anything or opened up more questions, feel free to ask. I'm not an expert but I have learned a lot on this forum over the past several years.
