Tekpower 4 1/2 Digits High Accuracy Multimeter gives you much higher accuracy and resolution than other 3 1/2 digits meters.
If you need a higher resolution and resolution, this is teh meter you need, it gives a reading as 19999, the other meters can only give you 1999 digits, a higher DAC gives you much better measurements.

  • Near as I can tell time-wise the meter I mentioned shuts off after 20-min. I did not time it but it does auto-sleep.
  • My phartsmone screen is too small to make out details. This is a 3-1/2 digit device? There is just too much voltage drop in the toad's lighter circuit to make one of these useful. :( for me.

I have a DROK 5-digit voltmeter on the way and a DROK 3-1/2 digit ammeter. We shall see how much error it has in the 2nd decimal column.
  • I have one of these plugged 24/7 into an always-on 12V receptacle on our motorhome's cab dash right where I can read it all the time when driving to monitor what the alternator is putting out. I just ordered another one to plug into a 12V receptacle back in the coach so that I can conveniently monitor the (approximate) voltage of my coach batteries while camped:

Free multimeters from Harbor Freight (probably the one that they sell for $5 normally) is no comparison. Bottom of the barrel quality and reliability, with accuracy >=1%, i.e. 12.xxV it reads with +/- 0.15V error. So you get the 3rd digit barely accurate, forget what it reads in the 4th position. A 3 DIGIT METER. Not even 3 1/2. That is, if you get lucky and it works according to specs :)

For day to day messing around trailer 3 digit is "good enough" though. I use a 3-digit GreenLee, priced slightly lower than the one in Mex link. On the 4th year already, and I suspect it's poised to outlast me. I particularly like soft case that it came with. Have dropped it a few times.
  • That's a nice VOM. I just get the free ones from Harbor Freight. And I keep a spare when the one in use goes bad.
  • Santa Craws not predictable flying 11,000 miles eastbound, with a 600 mile right hook at the end.
