I just wonder what the SG rises to after a few more hours at 15.1v, as I've been checking it only shortly after 15.1v is triggered.
I don't think any regimen is going to make it so a 16v EQ cycle is not needed every so often on this battery. I've accepted that.
The thing is performing well with these weekly EQ's, but are these weekly EQ's more abusive than letting the SG fall farther and farther each cycle with lower voltage setpoints and doing twice monthly, or even less frequent EQ cycles? It certainly appears I can get the SG's back up to baseline fairly easily even from 1.220, it just takes longer.
On the opposite end of that spectrum, would be a daily 16v eq, just to make sure that one is always starting a cycle at a true 100%. Obviously this is not recommended. Where does the line fall?
Perhaps I should shoot for 1.270 after a week of daily cycles, rather than 1.285 every day.
And for the above question, I don't think there is a one size fits all answer as each battery seems to have its own personality, even from the same manufacturer.
But no doubt there is something weird with these large 12v flooded jars and their higher voltage requirements. Perhaps we can entice Mex to elaborate on why these larger 12v jars need more Lovin' and higher voltages, compared to a GC-2 Jar that basically has the same mass, or at least very similar.
