Randy told me the whole thermistor issue has been sorted out for a while now, but I'll definitely keep it in mind when testing things initially. The Unit will be hardwired to the batteries over a very short distance of 0 awg cable. I will mark the 13.6v and the 14.7v unloaded on the dial though. I had not thought about doing that before so thanks for that reminder.
I can appreciate high quality sound. My same friend had an elaborate stereo in his old rig that was certainly very crisp and clean at higher volumes. Sometimes when a newfound song or a rediscovered song really floated my boat high, and I would go to his vehicle so I could listen to it on a proper sounding stereo.
His new stereo should be a few levels above this, utilizing newer technology, and speakers. I don't really follow developments in this area closely at all. My van's stereo is more than adequate with just some Kenwood 6x9s on my doors. My rear speakers are portable boombox speakers transferred into a baltic birch housing of minimal size, on long wires so that I can move them closer to the campfire, and use less battery power and not annoy the neighbors. But these don't have much bass and certain music just sounds poorly from them alone. I've resisted all offerings from my friend as to amplifiers and speakers he is no longer using, as I prefer simplicity, and lower amp draw.
I find a lot of thumping bass music that the youngsters/hipsters/rappers like to listen too absolutely intolerable. I had the superbowl on yesterday, not really paying attention to it, but some music came on in the halftime show which had my fumbling for my remote and the mute button, I couldn't find it quickly enough and had to just shut off the TV entirely before my contempt for modern culture boiled over entirely.
I do like a clean bass in some of my music, feeling it vibrate ones inners, but it is the crisp highs which can force this mysterious liquid substance from my eyes shamelessly.
