That is a good idea. I have the same issue when we use our little electric fan heater.
Usually it is a rotational switch: Off-Fan-Low-High. Without looking at the switch, I would think the fan will have to be wired ON at all times the heater is plugged in. Otherwise an additional switch would be needed, to turn the whole thing on-off. At least that's how it seems to me....
