I have one of the original "micro-furnace" brand ceramic heaters, called a 'base unit'. It does not have a thermostat, and therefore does not come on full blast, and then shut off. Rather, it stays on, at whatever you have it dialed to. At anything less than half way, it's very quiet.
Dialed down, it pulls about 330 watts.
