Need Sine Wave Inverter

I just got rid of my "fire-Hazard" Dometic refrigerator , and replaced it with a Magic chef VISSANI from Home Depot for $300.

I wish to add a SINE WAVE INVERTER for occasional overnite usage.

The brands I see on EBAY have very bad reviews ( mostly ) , and I am looking for references to brands that are reliable.

The frig only draws 1.4 Amps , but likely 5 Amps during startup , so I do not need a real expensive on like the XANTREX.

I would like to hear from those who have experience in this area.

Thank You ... Rich

  • look on the back of the fridge
get the LRA off the tag on the compressor

you CAN NOT go by any reading on a clamp on meter or even a Kill-A-watt
they are not capable of reading the LRA spike, the response aka sampling time of those meters is not fast enough

also should be noted, the avg consumer inverter has a very short surge time rating like 5 Micro-seconds

    my Trip-lite commercial grade 1250w weights 22pounds
most of that weight is the heavy transformer inside
it will carry 2500w for 10 seconds
thats 200,000 times longer than the avg surge rating time of the avg consumer inverter PSW or MSW
  • I run my dorm fridge on a 1000W Xantrex Prowatt inverter. A 600W Samlex PS inverter was incapable of handling the fridge's LRD.
