IAMICHABOD AND MEXICOWANDERER, you two must be very close to my age to remember your fathers using tools like that. I loved watching my Dad and brothers fixing flats, mostly on bicycle tubes, with those hot patches. I do remember getting in a little trouble for lighting one of those just for fun. The clamp Dad had wasn't as fancy as the one shown by the OP, none the less, I do remember the four fingers that held the metal cup down.

Ya at 70 it is nice to see the things that my Dad used back in the day when you could work on everything and fix it all yourself. I too really liked to set fire to those old hot patches,my Dad always let me do that so I could say that I helped.
He was a what is now called disparagingly a " Shade Tree Mechanic" but we always had cars that were always in great running condition and he could fix almost anything, back in his day you had to or you didn't have it.
I learned a lot from him and it has served me well all these years, with Fathers Day coming I thank him for all he taught me.
