need some help

i know this is way off topic but i would like to find out what this tool is.. it can from a muffler shop that closed after 70 years, they did all types of auto repair over the years,,

  • Used to 'tighten' a muffler to fit. Smaller. Definitely missing a 'flat part' on the screw end of the treaded rod.
  • Frame rail clamp. Wedge exhaust pipe upward in the slot then install hanger. But turning it upside down and backwards any angle is possible. Before the days of jack stand lead screw under hoist supports.

    I think it has something to do with tires. What, I don't know.
  • Definitely a specialized clamp. But will probably require someone who actually used one to identify it.


  • Looks like a clamp to me. The screw with a ball end probably is missing the round foot. Odd shape to get around something unique.
  • I could guess, but without a picture it will hard to get a good answer.
