Need switch for Fantastic Fan.

I need the 3 way IN/OFF/OUT rocker switch. I called FF and they said they would send me one, no charge!! Cool. 3 weeks later no switch. Called them back. They said sometimes the tag falls off the package but would send another.

A week later a cloth bag comes with a shipping label loosely attached. (No wonder they lose so many).

Anyway, wrong switch. This one is some kind of thermostat with a couple springs hooked to the back.

Is there any other place that carries these switches? I don't mind paying for one as it is camping season and I need the fan to suck my canvas in while lowering the top!!

Thanks........DJ

The switch is a common DPDT with the end terminals cross wired.. IF you find a DPDT switch of the proper capacity (At least as big as the fuse that feeds the beast) you have all you need.

    Wire as follows
    Terminals

    1 2
    3 4
    5 6

    1 hooks to six, 2 to 1 1 and 2 to motor, 3 and 4 to power.

I think you meant 1 to 6 and then 2 to 5 to reverse the polarity to the motor.
There will be a quiz later today...

I have a FF without reversing capability. Is there any reason I couldn't install a switch and make it a reversible fan? Seems the only thing that reverses it would be changing + and - feed to the motor with the DPDT switch. Am I missing something?
  • DJ, near the intersection of Victory and Cole in Boise is a place called Bolen's Control House. They have just about every electrical doodad a guy could ever need. If you take your switch in I'm sure they can hook you right up.
  • Call FF, I recently needed a lift motor and elevator, cost me $12.50 S & H, parts no charge. Model number is written on the side of the fan motor, have it when you call.

DJ, I took my switch out and took it a part and cleaned it than put some die-elect lube on it and it works great, did this over a year ago.
