Need Transformer for Motorola DVD sts71e-r

Hello to everyone. I just bought a 5th wheel and going through it to learn all about it before I take it out for the first time. Researching the internet it seems that the Motorola DVD sts71e-r was a fairly common install from the factory. If anyone has an old DVD sts71e-r unit they can part with I'd be most grateful. I need to salvage the Transformer out of it. I need this asap so please call or text me 502-499-2997 if you can help. computermanlee@aol.com

The transformer I need has multiple secondary taps and finding a schematic seems impossible. Unless Westend happens to have this transformer it looks like it's time for a new DVD player. The problem is there is no way to know if the secondary outputs have the same voltage as the transformer in my player.

There are two types of transformers for this type of thing,,, Simple and complex

Simple has an input winding (120vac) and an output winding.

Slightly complex the output is center tapped

Very complex may have multiple secondary windings and or multiple taps

I'm guessing yours is a simple one, Now all you need is the output voltage.

If you know the proper DC voltage at the output,, Multiply by 0.707 and you should be right close.

If you're able to identify the transformer or have a scematic that lists the secondary outputs, I have a shelf of different CD and DVD players (no Memorex)for parts. I'd be glad to give you one to fix your Memorex player. I think you might find that the higher transiernt voltage took out more than the transformer. At least, that's been my experience. Sometimes, though, a fuse saves most of it.

Thanks Westend for offering to help. I posted some pics that might help you identify what I need. Please visit http://louisvillebusiness.com/transformer/

  • You named it a "Motorola" so it's hard to find any parts ;)

Is the faceplate mount so different that a different player couldn't be used?

Sure that player isn't a Memorex model STS71E-R DVD ?

How have you diagnosed that the transformer is at fault?

Yup, it is a Memorex model STS71E-R DVD. Probably didn't stick out in my post because I used lower case. My bad.
After plugging the 5th wheel into a 220 volt outlet I had to replace the Microwave Oven, a TV and the primary side of that transformer was trashed. Hoping now that someone will have an old or broke Memorex model STS71E-R DVD so I can scavenge the transformer out of it.
