T^he TS-45 handles greater current and has the PC interface, it's two greater attributes compared to the PS-30. I have a SS MPPT-15 and was a bit shocked at the physical size of the unit. I'm guessing that newer SMD devices have allowed these controllers to shrink. The TS-45 still sports a fairly good sized heatsink and that is always a good thing for electronics, IMO.
I wouldn't worry about other's brand aversions, get what you feel is a good product for you. Morningstar is one of the better out there, by all accounts.
