Well, you can't have it both ways. For a small system it's either budget or amp-hours. In terms of budget, PWM wins. In terms of amp-hours, MPPT wins, whether BFL agrees with this or not ;)
For ideas on install, check the list of installs Here - you are not the first one with truck camper. Somebody said this already, but I will say it again - length and gauge of the cable from controller to battery is VERY important. Make it as short as possible.
