New 12 ground connection

I need to make a new ground connection for a chassis battery circuit.

There is a house battery ground connection in a convenient location.

Is there any problem with using the same ground connector for the two circuits?

  • Grab your dremel tool with the sander head and polish up the connections and go for it. Found your bad ground issue I suspect.

Hmmm.....wq8yxm, I think I understand your caution and odds. I had not thought of that risk.

You did give me pause and caused me to decide not to be lazy when the alternative is not too difficult.

I suspect drilling another hole in the frame even though near the house battery ground would be better as long as the chassis ground cannot reach the house ground connection if it were to pop loose.

Generally no provided it is a good solid connection.

The exceptions involve starter and inverter circuits where there is a possibility (Very very low) of the ground breaking free of the chassis and trying to "Return" to ground via some expensive electronics that has multiple grounds.. As I said, very very low possibility to start with and if you do a good job.. "Possibility approaches zero" as we would say in the appropriate math class.

Would I do it that way: YES.
