New Champion Inverters-dual fuel, parallel, and more watts

I currently have (and like) the original style champion 3100i pull start generator. I'd like to have propane or extended run options, but still generally satisfied. In researching options for these add-ons, I see there are some new products out in this field. Info seems limited at this point, but at Costco (and the champion web site) there is now a dual fuel remote start 3100 generator available. Of note (aside from the dual fuel, is that this generator has paralleling terminals. Makes me wonder if my old 3100 could be paralleled with a home-built kit (though I'm not sure what the value of 50 amps of 110v is, but hey...

Also, I see the same generator at the Cabela's website rated at not 3100, but 3500 watts... very interesting...

Anyone know much about these new models yet?

  • On the Forest River Owners forum search for the phrase "Generator Comparisons". In that thread you will find a parts list and YouTube link to add extended run to a Champion inverter. All parts can be ordered on Amazon for about $50. The mod process is relatively simple and looks clean professional and safe. I'm on my wife's crappy Apple iPhone 5s so I can't just paste the links myself
  • The old one is 3100 peak 2800 continuous
The new one is 3500 peak 3200 continuous (I think)
    Need to double check
