:)
With remote temp sensor TS-MPPT-30 is probably $380 before any display. This is exactly the reason why I decided not to go for TS when Rogue was out of stock. TS-45 was more expensive than Rogue 3028/3048, and it appears that TS-30 is more expensive again.
Though there is also that Kid for $389 - what is the difference from Kid for $289? Circuit board not sealed, remote temp sensor and voltage sensor is missing and/or can not be connected, or something else? - BFL13Explorer II

Midnite's controllers are pricey that's for sure. I'd have to scour their manual to see what else you get for the extra cash.
You can navel-gaze with your laptop, but your batteries won't thank you for that. - AlmotExplorer III

Where does it say we are required to support some guy who decided to go into the solar controller business even though he can't match the "world price" and we have to pay him "extra" so he can stay in business?
I have a news for you: not only that "guy" matched, but has also beaten the "world price".
I was considering Morningstar 45 when Rogue was out of stock last year. Didn't want to, and not because MS was made on the "world" factories, but because it was more expensive. My criteria were simple: it had to be a) reliable for a fulltime offgrid living, b) had features that I needed, and c) didn't cost more than Rogue. Could not find anything else.
Now there is that Kid and 30A Morningstar, so there is a choice. - UnyalliExplorer

Truly seriously, the Wizbang Jr changes everything. - UnyalliExplorer

The new Kid is bad ass and if you compare it to the new Morningstar 30 amp don't forget to include the morningstar remote meter in your cart.
I don't see that Kid for $400 includes a remote meter either.
It's built in. In other words comes standard.

I don't see that Kid for $400 includes a remote meter either. Are there any other differences in features that make new Kid superior to 30A Morningstar?
Kid has some onboard display. But then, a $100 EcoWorthy has some too. Though, Eco is only 40V and 20A, so this would be apples to oranges.
Rogue MPPT 3048 for $375 also has onboard display and is 100V, 30A. Higher input volts in Kid, yes. - BFL13Explorer II

Horribly expensive! $400 for a 30a controller. My Solar30 does 30a and cost $34. PWM though.
Right. My wheel-barrel costs 20 bucks. No engine though.BFL13 wrote:
Reminds me of when a Canadian company got banned from selling peanut butter in the States. Turned out that the US Govt required that nobody was to under-cut American peanut butter sellers, who had to pay $10 a unit from US peanut growers. (Goober peas?)
The Canadian company was buying peanuts at $4 a unit ("world price", not "USA price") from Argentina...
Now imagine - hypothetically - what would happen if peas required not farmlands but hi-tech equipment, know-how and production lines. And all Canadian and US pea industry would've moved to China. Heck with those Canadian and US farmers :)...
Almot, you have a hate on about China, so we will never agree. Also I don't give a hoot about our farmers in particular. If they can't match the "world price" then they should find something else to do.
Like right now in Canada we are paying twice as much for milk as Americans pay, thanks to our grateful government supporting too many dairy farms in Quebec. If those farms were in Manitoba instead, would we be still paying double? Ha ha.
Where does it say we are required to support some guy who decided to go into the solar controller business even though he can't match the "world price" and we have to pay him "extra" so he can stay in business?
IMO, he should just find some other way to make a living, and meanwhile my poor little wallet can empty itself doing more important (to me) things. - mena661ExplorerYou guys feel free to buy your homegrown, no one knows it with God knows how long that company will be around stuff. I'll buy the proven stuff everytime. And the Walmart argument, gee how unexpected. LOL! Like I said, you buy your stuff made in the USA. I'll buy the proven, high quality stuff regardless of where it's made.
