Many controllers have a way to "know" when to drop to their Float voltages, so it is not special to this controller. Also it relies on the Trimetric for the information on the battery's SOC, which in real life requires frequent "resets" to keep any where near the truth.- New? This came out in 2014.

Had the best overall price when i bought- It certainly seems an advantage for the controller to know how much the batteries are discharged.

Cautionary point: Its only "smart" when used WITH the TM-2030 batt monitor.All this is controlled by the TM-2030 Battery Monitor located in your living area--connected with a common phone cable to the SC-2030 usually located near the batteries. So in addition to high quality charging you also get all the benefits of the TM-2030 monitoring system: volts, battery amps, solar amps, replaced percent of charge compared to previous discharge, extra unused solar power, battery temperature and more.

This system works great. Highly recommended. Ralph has posted AM solars recomendation on charging profiles for there lifepo4 batteries. I see LFP in my future :)
