BTW Some CCs require that the solar panels be disconnected before the battery connection. You are doing the exact opposite by disconnecting the battery first with the salesman switch. Change the CC wiring to the battery and yes you should have a fuse and switch on the positive wire. I used a CB for that purpose.
Your CC may not have this restriction but for good practice you should have a switch on the panel input and battery output and not use the salesman switch to disconnect the CC.
