New Solar Setup - What am I missing?

The steps should be wired to the house battery,
No power to steps unless the disconnect is in the on position
Verify this, no lights or anything
Steps should work with switch on
Not work with switch off
Did you read 16.9v on the step wiring, with the disconnect off
If yes..somebody cross wired the steps to the solar ?
Solar will not power the step, motor surge is too much, 100w solar can not maintain the volts and amps needed to get step moving
I would be surprised if somebody did this but I have seen worse
Depending where the solar wiring is attached, using the disconnect, could disconnect the solar, you want to have the solar connected all the time
Did you pull new wire, or use existing wire
I wonder if the previous owner, used the step wires for the solar ?
